About Us

Welcome to The Language of Flowers!
We are a family owned business with a charming little shop in Santa Monica, California. We try to use organic, locally grown flowers, when available, and recycled containers with intent to keep our business environmentally conscious.
We also include the meaning of the flowers and the message of the bouquet in each arrangement. 

So you receive more than just flowers: you get a complete, meaningful expression of your feelings, wishes, desires, thoughts, dreams, and inspirations. Check out our floriography dictionary to read the meaning and history of ‘The Language of Flowers’.

Who’s who?

  Emily is the floral designer with training in traditional French flower design and Japanese Ikebana. She is well versed in the Victorian Language of Flowers, and enjoys bringing flowers more alive with words. She is interested in all aspects of creativity and making the world a more beautiful place through her work, family, and participation in many volunteer projects.

 Cliff is the gardener with the green thumb! He has a wonderful knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs, and anything blooming or growing. A successful part time landscape designer, he is available professionally. He loves plants, with an eye for tropicals, and California native plants. He also builds fountains and pathways.

 Freida comes to the shop with an extensive and impressive resume of styling and design work, an incredible aesthetic... and the spark and energy of genuine joy. She truly loves flowers and plants, dogs and all living things. She expresses her gratitude for nature and life itself with everything she does.

 Elana is 10, and the pure spirit of goodness. She loves arranging flowers, digging in the dirt, and feeding organic biscuits to the dogs that pass by the shop.
